Reading the panchang needs no account and sets no cookies. If you join the reminder list, we keep your email address, the city you chose, the page you signed up on, the consent line you agreed to and when, when you confirmed, and whether you are subscribed. We also note which reminders we have sent you, so none goes out twice, and keep the codes that make the links in our emails work.

Signing up sends one email with a link to confirm the address. No reminder goes out until you follow it and confirm, and the link works for 7 days. If someone else typed your address, ignore that email and nothing more is sent. To change your city, sign up again with the new one and confirm from that email; we send at most one confirmation email every 10 minutes.

One email the day before each Ekadashi fast, and before each Purnima and Amavasya begins: about four a month. Each gives the date and the tithi’s start and end times for your city. They go out once a day between 12:00 and 1:00 PM UTC (5:30 to 6:30 PM in India). We send nothing else, and we never sell or rent your address, or share it beyond the database and email services named below.

Every reminder has an unsubscribe link, and mail apps that support it show a one-click unsubscribe button. Either takes effect at once. We then keep your address only to make sure we never email it again. To have it deleted entirely, or to remove an address that was never confirmed, write to hello@shimtools.com.

So the form can’t be used to flood the list or someone’s inbox, we count signups from each IP address for an hour and confirmation emails to each inbox for a day. Both are stored only as SHA-256 hashes, used for nothing else, and deleted when the hour or the day is over. The hashes are unsalted, so anyone who already knows an address or IP could match it.

In a MongoDB Atlas database run by the team behind Today's Tithi. The same team runs two other sites, and each keeps its list separately. The site is hosted on Vercel, and Resend delivers the emails.

Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights count page views and measure how fast pages load. They use no cookies, do not follow you to other sites, and record page addresses without the codes our email links carry.
